Publications/Policy & Practice
The ILPPP publishes the newsletter Developments in Mental Health Law periodically throughout the year and its faculty publish frequently in scholarly and professional journals. In addition, ILPPP faculty often participate on policymaking bodies at the request of government agencies, foundations or other entities and contribute to policy reports, statutes and regulations. Community-Based Restoration Services for Juveniles
The VA Juvenile Competency and Restoration Services program is a collaborative project developed by UVa in partnership with the VA Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services through funding provided by the VA Dept. of Criminal Justice Services. The goal is to provide services to incompetent youth in an effort to remediate their ability to consult with their attorneys and to attain a rational as well as factual understanding of the court proceedings in which they will be involved.
